Family Support Worker

"Parents remark warmly about the care offered to their children and their children’s enjoyment of school."

OfSTED September 2019

Hi, My name is Amanda Patterson and I am the Family Support Worker here at WEJS.

My job is to support children and their families with anything they may be finding a bit tricky. This could include; Social, emotional and mental health concerns, problems in or out of school, transition, attendance, understanding behaviour and more.

Having 3 children myself of various ages, I know the challenges I face as a parent and want to be able to help you with something I may have found difficult myself, or signpost you to somewhere that can offer help when you most need it.

I am in school Monday to Thursday and would love to see you for a chat. Appointments can be made via the school office or please feel free to see me on the gate before/after school.

  • Recognise how your child is feeling.
  • Reduce the difficulties you face in everyday life.
  • Improve how you communicate with your child.
  • Understand the importance of play.

  • Improve relationships between you and child for a happier and calmer home.

100% of parents who have completed this course said they would definitely recommend it to other parents.

“I really enjoyed the course. I would recommend to anybody to come along and do the course. It really has helped me to think about how I parent my children and I feel stronger to cope with things. Thank you!”

“It was reassuring to know that I am not alone in ‘my battle.’ I have learnt that it’s ok to feel angry/upset and there is always a solution. I have learnt a few techniques and tips for an easier, calmer, controlled life.”
