We have been very lucky in year 6 to have a visit from Karen who works at the Norfolk records office. She was able to assist us in our inquiry into the West Earlham community and the people who lived here in the beginning. Karen was able to show us some wonderful photographs of what West Earlham looked like when it was first built and even the architects drawings of how they wanted the buildings to look. We then compared them to how they were really built and then how it may have changed since 1947. We looked at residents of Norwich from the 1921 census and where they had moved to by the electoral role taken in West Earlham in 1950. We were able to also look at the marriage register to see when and where people got married and the 1939 register taken at the beginning of the war to get a full picture of what their lives looked like. It was very interesting to see how families changed at different points.
